Second Annual Canadian Agricultural Policy Conference in Ottawa...

The Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics will be an active participant in the Second Annual Canadian Agricultural Policy Conference in Ottawa on January 11-13. The theme of this year’s conference is Growing Forward in a Volatile Environment and will explore the ways in which agricultural policy can address the impact of changing agri-food environments on markets, consumers and producers. Recently retired FARE faculty member Karl Meilke, Director of the Canadian Agricultural Trade Policy Research Network, served on the conference organizing committee. In addition to this, a number of FARE faculty and students will attend the conference, including FARE faculty member John Cranfield (President-Elect of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society) who will deliver the closing remarks to this year’s conference, while FARE PhD student Na Li will present results from his thesis research. Lastly, recent M.Sc. graduate Stewart Skinner will be a panelist discussant during the session “Agri-Food Volatility and Risk”.
