Alumni Spotlight: Scott Folwell, COO Diamond Hotels Group

Scott Follwell, BComm, HAFA '96, COO Diamond Hotels Group

Unbeknownst to a young Scott Follwell, a family trip to Kelowna, BC in 1986 would serve as the inspiration for a career spent in hospitality. While visiting a beloved uncle, Scott was exposed to the day to day challenges and rewards of hotel operations and was privy to the wise reflections of a man who spent his life in this industry. Scott’s future crystallized, leading him to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce in Hotel and Food Administration from the University of Guelph. Upon graduation, Scott travelled to Canada’s West assuming hotel sales and senior administrative positions in Lake Louise, Whistler and Canmore. This time, in three of the world’s most iconic tourism destinations, reinforced the lessons learned from his uncle, namely the importance of offering an exceptional, guest-centric hospitality experience and the need to nurture and support the team charged with its delivery. In his current role as Chief Operating Officer with Diamond Hotels Management, Scott oversees business operations at four hotels and restaurants, including the Delta Hotels by Marriott Kingston Waterfront, a multi-year winner of Delta Hotels and Resorts Franchise of the Year award.
