In her book “Teaming,” Harvard Professor Amy Edmondson shows that organizations thrive, or fail to thrive, based on how well the small groups within those organizations work, and more specifically how they learn to “team” (yes, as a verb). Henley Business School Professor Peter Hawkins suggests that, in today’s dynamic organizations, teams need to learn to become “High Value Creating Teams”, ones that continually create beneficial value with and for the whole organization and all of its stakeholders. Teaming is central to these efforts.

In this session, you will be introduced to a framework by Patrick Lencioni that supports teaming behavior. You will leave with a better understanding of how you can contribute to teaming from within your own sphere of influence as a team leader or team member.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe what teaming means and why it is required in today’s dynamic work environment
  • Distinguish high performing from high value creating teams
  • Describe Patrick Lencioni’s 5 Elements of Cohesive Teams
  • Identify the mindset or skillset you can adopt that will elevate your positive influence on the teams you are part of
