“Only dead people never feel stress, anger, agitation or fear” says Harvard Psychologist and author of Emotional Agility Susan David. In a podcast interview with Tom Bilyeu of Impact Theory, she says that “discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life.”

Most of us have grown up in families, schools, and workplaces where the “hard,” or “distressing” emotions are thought of as “bad.” So, we have learned to suppress, ignore, and dismiss them, and particularly in the workplace where no one wants to look “unprofessional” or “emotional”. But that puts us into a state of constant conflict with our emotions, and it overlooks the notion that our emotions are data, not directives.

We invite you to join L&D hosts, Evelina and Linda, in a listen and learn together session on how our approach to our thoughts, emotions and stories determines the quality of our life and how we can build our emotional agility. Afterward, Linda and Evelina will facilitate a deeper dive into the topic, provide you with an opportunity to share challenges and successes with colleagues to build your personal productivity prowess.

Facilitators: Evelina Rog, Senior Consultant, & Linda Watt, Director, HR Learning and Development, University of Guelph
