This talk will describe the move of the trial garden from Victoria Rd.  to its new site on College Ave. We’ll also cover the scope of the University’s trial garden program and show case some of the best plants that were evaluated in the 2021 growing season.  Have your notepad handy to help you remember some of the plants you want to be looking for in garden centres this spring!

Facilitators: 

Rodger Tschanz earned both a BSc (AGR) and MSc from the University of Guelph.  He started working in what was then the Department of Horticultural Science in 1989.  Then he worked with apples in the postharvest research facility.  Over the years he moved to working in the Bovey greenhouse where he still works but with a focus on ornamental plant breeding and the evaluation of new annuals and perennials for Ontario gardens.
