Learn how to create a “painting” using oil pastels. This fun and versatile medium creates an effect similar to oil paintings, without all the mess or fuss. Students will create a painting inspired by Van Gogh’s famous sunflowers.

Register now! Supplies will be provided to the first 25 registrants! registrants will be emailed by Wed Nov 9, 2022 to be informed if they are one of the first 25 registrants. 

About the Instructor: 

Candice Leyland is an Artist and Art Instructor from Kitchener. She graduated from University of Guelph and creates watercolours inspired by nature and colour.

What supplies are required? 

  1. Oil Pastels
    • These can be purchased at Wyndham Arts, Michaels, or even at some dollar stores. If in a pinch and you want to participate you can use crayons as well and the drawing will still turn out well!
  2. Paper 
    • Any mixed media or coloured paper and pastels will work to create this drawing. 

When and where can I pick up my supplies if I'm one of the first 25 registrants?

To ensure this event is accessible, we will provide art supplies for the first 25 registrants. The supplies will be available to pick-up on the 5th floor UC, South Tower from Isidora Nezic's office on: 

  • Thursday November 10 from 11 am-1 pm; and
  • Friday November Noon - 2:00pm
