Toronto Argos & Our Sports History Focus - Dr. James Fraser

Posted on Friday, July 30th, 2021

Since this past spring, our own Dr. James Fraser has been a contributor of historical pieces for the Toronto Argonauts football team website, including Big Red and the Double Blue and The Career of Number 55--Joe "King" Krol. These public history posts on the early and mid-20th century history of the team and its players are part of his new research focus on sports history. Dr. Fraser is in good company: Drs. Alan McDougall and Susan Nance also work on the history of sport through studies of football and rodeo, respectively.

The University of Guelph resides on the land of the Between the Lakes Treaty No. 3, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. This land is part of the Dish with One Spoon, a covenant between Indigenous nations to live peaceably on the territories of the Great Lakes region. We recognize that today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and acknowledging them reminds us of our collective responsibility to the land where we learn, live and work.
