Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) MA, PhD
LACS courses explore Latin American, Caribbean and Latinx identities and communities through study of rich tradition of world-class literature, visual arts, sports, and music.
LACS electives analyze social problems, political struggles and economic relations of our southern neighbors which are becoming even more significant in the new times of geopolitics.
With the supportive guidance of 18 faculty members associated with LACS studies, students can pursue numerous topics in their research.
The one-year program is bilingual, and students may submit their work for the courses or for their research projects in either Spanish or English.
Guaranteed funding with offer of admission for domestic students for 2026-27 year is $18,000 ($12,000 (2 x 140-hour Teaching Assistant Positions, plus $6000 admission scholarship). Teaching Assistantship provides excellent training and teaching experience to students.
