FARE Faculty continue to be quoted in the media. This time it is Dr. Andreas Boecker in the Globe and Mail speaking about "ORGANIC FOOD GOES GLOBAL BUT AT WHAT COST?".
Edward Olale, PhD Student in Food, Agricultural & Resource Economics, has recently been selected to receive a 2008-2009 OGS award. To be recommended for this award is a great honour as it is a very competitive process for Ontario students. This award is for one academic year, which may consist of two or three consecutive terms. The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program is designed to encourage excellence in graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels.
The next session of the Southern Ontario Resource and Environmental Economics (SOREE), an informal group of resource and environmental economists will take place on May 6, 2008 at the University of Guelph. The session is sponsored by the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) at the university. Local arrangements are being handled by Brady Deaton.

The 5th Annual Graduate Research Symposium in the Dept. of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics will be held on Fri., April 30th, 2010 in Room 101, J.D. MacLachlan Bldg. beginning at 9:25 am. This symposium is designed to give first year MSc students a chance to present their proposed research plans, including key research questions and methods of data collection and analysis.
Deepananda Herath has been short-listed for an Assistant Professor position at the University of Manitoba. In preparation for his interview he has offered to share his view via a seminar presentation with the intention of receiving feedback. Herath’s seminar entitled “Health Enhancing Food and Supplement Manufacturers of Canada: A Perspective” will take place on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 101, J.D. MacLachlan Bldg.
Kyle Maw, B.Comm (AGBU) is the recipient of this year’s Brian D. Sullivan Student Leadership Award. This is a very prestigious award presented to a graduating student who has made significant contributions to student leadership through her/his involvement as an elected or appointed student representative at the University of Guelph.
