After a nearly 40-year hiatus, the Conversat is back. Join us on Alumni Weekend 2014 for a gala evening featuring Guelph’s signature approach to spectacular food and extraordinary entertainment in several venues across campus, as we celebrate the University of Guelph’s 50th anniversary. 'Conversazione' or 'Conversat' means, “meeting for conversation.” Beginning in 1904, the Conversat was a key social event for faculty, staff, students and friends of the Guelph colleges. The 2014 Conversat will be the signature event of the year, involving all of the colleges and many units from across campus. Please join us as we honour our rich history, and look toward the future. Alumni, friends and neighbours of the university community are invited to join in the festivities. 5:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday, June 21, 2014 There are two ticket options available: $125 +HST - Gala reception, dinner and evening of entertainment at six venues across campus, with midnight champagne buffet and fireworks. (starts at 5:30 p.m.) $65 +HST - An evening of entertainment at six venues across campus, with midnight champagne buffet and fireworks. (starts at 8:30 p.m.) Dress is formal. The meal will feature locally and sustainably produced, fresh and nutritious ingredients. 8:30 p.m. Evening Entertainment (included with all tickets) One ticket will give you access to 6 venues across campus each with a unique theme that will transport you back in time or into the future. Each venue will have live performers, a complimentary signature drink, savories and sweets - all for one low ticket price. Entertainment will be arranged in 45 minute sets to allow guests to circulate between the venues to experience all that the Conversat has to offer. British Invasion Peter Clark Hall Travel back in time and around the world to Piccadilly Circus and join an iconic London street party with a musical tribute to the 1960s. Hosted by the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences and the Ontario Agricultural College. Casablanca Science Complex Atrium Experience the best of Morocco in the '40s at Rick’s Place, straight out of the movie, complete with dinner jackets, flowing chiffon and music by the Royal City Big Band. Hosted by the College of Arts and the College of Biological Science Speakeasy Rozanski Concourse Enter through forbidden doors, into a world of glamour, excitement and intrigue with hot jazz, gambling, silent movies and a 1920s Charleston good time. Hosted by the College of Management and Economics Café Nostalgia University Centre Atrium Groove to the music of Dylan and more at a beatnik coffee house reminiscent of the '60s. Local talent will entertain you while you share a warm mocha brew. Hosted by the Ontario Veterinary College Reunion at the ‘Ring Bullring Relive the glory days of the '70s and '80s dancing to the DJ at the Bullring, the way it used to be. Hosted by Student Affairs A Space Odyssey Engineering Atrium Walk into another dimension when you travel through a black hole to a futuristic galaxy where you will be entertained by fusion funk band God Made Me Funky. Hosted by College of Physical and Engineering Science 12 a.m. Champagne Buffet and Fireworks (included with all tickets) After the final set of entertainment everyone from all of the venues is invited to gather at the marquis on Johnston Green and round out the evening with a champagne toast and fireworks celebration. and if you still haven’t had enough…… 12:30 a.m. Bullring “All nighter” Dance until dawn at this after-hours alcohol-free event.
