WSET Level 3 Brochure CoverThe WSET Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits (Condensed version) is designed to give a more comprehensive coverage of the wines and spirits of the world.  Students will benefit from in-depth tastings where they will learn to identify product style and quality.

This qualification is suitable for employees in the trade, supervisory, management or those required to respond professionally to consumer queries.  This course is also ideal for the wine enthusiast wanting to build on knowledge gained in Level 2.

COURSE DATE:

Level 3 will be offered in a condensed version on the following six Sundays in the winter semester from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  (Includes a 1-hour lunch break)

COURSE OUTLINE:

Upon completion of Level 3, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the following:

Wines and Spirits of the World

  • Production of Wine
       Location
       Viticulture
       Vinification
       Maturation and Bottling
       Labelling Regulations

  • France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Central and South Eastern Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, North America, South and Central America

  • Sparkling Wines

  • Fortified (Liqueur) Wines

  • Spirits and Liqueurs

  • Information and Advice for Customers and Staff

Tasting and Evaluating Wines of the World

  • Advanced wine tasting technique; how to taste wines and evaluate the quality, style and price.

The WSET recommends that students allocate a minimum of 84 hours of study, through a combination of taught and private study time.

EXAM:  

To gain the internationally-recognized WSET certification, you must successfully complete a multiple choice exam of 50 questions; a question paper requiring short written answers and a blind tasting of two wines.  A 55% pass mark is required on all three sections.

The exam will take place the last day of class.  Please ensure that you are available on this scheduled day.

FEE:

$1,195* + 13% HST ($155.35) = $1,350.35

Includes: WSET study pack, wines and spirits for in-class tasting; wine glasses, instruction and examination fees (for the class scheduled date).

*A 10% discount will apply to U of G alumni/students/staff/faculty and recognized HTM industry partners. ($1,075.50 + HST $139.82 = $1,215.32)

Please register early.  These popular certifications have filled up BEFORE the deadline date.  Note:  We are unable to 'hold' places, registration and payment must be received to guarantee your place.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

- Withdrawing more than 30 days prior to the course start date:  Full refund or a transfer to the next session offered.
- Withdrawing 15 - 29 days prior to the course start date:  Refund less a $300 administration fee
- Withdrawing 14 days or less prior to the course start date:  No refund
