Dean Steiner is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, a Fulbright-Hays Scholar, Presidential Appointee to the National Park System Advisory Board and a leading scholar on urban ecological design.  
Steiner’s books include Urban Ecological Design (with Palazzo, 2011), Design for a Vulnerable Planet (2011), Human Ecology: Following Nature’s Lead (2002), ­Living Landscape: An Ecological Approach to Landscape Planning (2nd ed., 2008), and ­The Essential Ian McHarg: Writings on Design and Nature (2006). He is the author, co-author, or editor of 17 books in landscape architecture and environmental planning. Dr. Steiner has five degrees and an honorary M.Phil in Human Ecology. He hails from Dayton, Ohio.
