The Rural Policy Learning Commons is hosting a free online webinar titled, "Nurturing Ethics in Governance: Taming Our Rascals” on October 21, 2019 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT. The webinar will feature Dr. Peter Apedaile, professor emeritus at the University of Alberta. A brief description of the webinar is listed below:

Our working, volunteer and political relationships are tempted every day by ethics dilemmas that challenge our governing truths. We are used to facing policy choices for standards of rural public service and investments in hard rural infrastructure, like building hospices or bridges, but can easily forget that it is our ethics policy that ensures a healthy rate of return from our decisions. So, we need to talk about nurturing our ethics, about ways to invest in ever more robust ethics standards, as critical pieces of our community infra-structure. Nurture and the search for truth harmonies, are policy choices. Especially for all of us who think we act ethically, yet recognize inconsistencies in our ethics conduct. The Webinar ends on the substance of an ethics policy.

The webinar is free to attend, however, online registration is required. The School of Environmental Design and Rural Planning is a collaborator on the Rural Policy Learning Commons initiative.
