Details

Mark your calendars for the 2023 Rural Symposium on March 2, 2023. The event will take in-person and available online. The Rural Symposium is an annual opportunity for University of Guelph graduate students to showcase their rural research to policy makers, policy analysts, and program staff from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and community partners. The event facilitates knowledge mobilization and network building between graduate students at the University of Guelph, researchers, OMAFRA, and community partners. Information on previous Rural Symposiums can be found on the Rural Review website.

There are two ways to participate in the upcoming event:

  • Present a poster or oral presentation on a research topic
  • Register to attend the event

Details on both are listed below.

SUBMIT A POSTER OR PRESENTATION: The Rural Symposium is accepting abstracts for either an oral presentation (10 minutes in duration) or poster presentation. Presentations or posters can share research that is anywhere from its infancy to recently completed, or anywhere in between! If you are interested in sharing your research or project you worked or have questions do not hesitate to contact your advisor for more information. To submit an abstract click the Qualtrics Abstract submission. The deadline for submissions is February 17 at 12 noon EST

REGISTER AND PARTICIPATE: The 2023 Rural Symposium will take place in the Conference Centre at 1 Stone Road West and will also be available to join virtually. The event is free to participate, but registration is required through this website. The event is a great way to learn more about rural research taking place at the University of Guelph and to network with staff from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs along with rural organizations.

The Rural Symposium is co-hosted by the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance, and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

If you have any questions about the upcoming event do not hesitate to contact Prof. Sara Epp or Prof. Ryan Gibson.
