Bold, raw and unapologetic, Brutalism is an attitude as much as a style.   The concrete builders of the 1960s believed unequivocally that modern problems could be solved with modern design. This exhibition sheds new light on Brutalism by examining its impact on the University of Guelph. The term “Brutalism” came into use in the 1950s to describe the concrete architecture emerging in the United Kingdom and Europe, including Swiss-French architect LeCorbusier’s expressive béton brut—literally meaning “raw concrete.”  

On Thursday June 20th, 2019 from 10:00am-11:00am the Great Lakes First Nations Fisheries Governance project will be hosting an online Webinar to present preliminary findings and foster discussion with our First Nations partners. The research team has been conducting interviews and analyzing the data collected for the past year and have found some interesting results.

The 17th International Comparative Rural Policy Studies Summer Institute will take place in Brandon, Manitoba from June 19 to July 2, 2020. The institute will convene for fourteen days and will involve approximately 25 graduate students and numerous faculty members from universities around North America and the European Union. Classroom sessions will be supplemented with field trips, group work and student presentations.
