PhD Candidate, Ashleigh Weeden joins the Honourable Minister Maryam Monsef and local leaders from across Canada at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Rural Forum

On November 25th, PhD (Rural Studies) candidate Ashleigh Weeden appeared alongside the Honourable Minister Maryam Monsef (Rural Economic Development and Status of Women) and rural leaders from across Canada as part of a panel event hosted by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM’s). The panel highlighted stories of rural community resilience. Ashleigh was invited by FCM to share comments on the future of rural communities, including the roles of infrastructure, broadband, and local businesses in ‘building back better’ as communities manage the pandemic and look to recovery.

The virtual event was attended by more than 100 leaders from across rural Canada as part of FCM’s 2020 Advocacy Days campaign. It was streamed live to YouTube and can be viewed online.
