Valencia is a researcher and practitioner who works at the intersection of people and places. Her work includes investigating rural precarious employment; linking the social practices of agricultural drainage to governance and economic trends; and natural resource development. Valencia is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, a Policy Analyst with the Federal Public Service, and a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Guelph. Valencia holds a PhD in Rural Studies and MSc in Rural Planning and Development from the University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development as well as a BHSc in Conservation Biology from Western University.
