Rural Symposium

The Rural Symposium is an opportunity for University of Guelph graduate students to showcase their rural research to policy makers, policy analysts, and program staff from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). The event facilitates knowledge mobilization and network building between graduate students at the University of Guelph, researchers, and OMAFRA .

The 2019 Rural Symposium will take place on March 13, 2019 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Conference Centre at 1 Stone Road in Guelph.

The Rural Symposium, co-hosted by SEDRD and OMAFRA, is an opportunity for graduate students to share their research with policy makers, local practitioners, and rural organizations. The Rural Symposium facilitates knowledge sharing, networking, and an opportunity for our students to gain experience in knowledge mobilization.

In early December 2018 a call for both oral presentations and poster presentations will be circulated. Please encourage students from any SEDRD program to consider submitting a contribution for the event. Please note that research initiatives can be at any stage - nearing completion, in the midst of data collection, or at the beginning stages.

This is a wonderful event and I would encourage everyone to place it in your calendars, even if for only part of the day. Further details about the event, the call for submissions, and registration (which is free!) will be circulated shortly.
