This group program meets once a week for 3 weeks to develop and practice skills in decreasing the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety.
A variety of long and short self-calming techniques are introduced, along with behaviours that can help prevent escalation of anxiety. All techniques in this program have originated from research into strategies which decrease anxiety. They have been well studied and the most up-to-date information will be presented.
Every Tuesday and Thursday at Noon

The Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act) is the safety legislation that governs all provincial workplaces, including the University of Guelph. The Act assigns safety responsibilities to various workplace parties and its Regulations outline expectations and provide guidance for the performance of safe work in the workplace.
Participants will have an introduction to the various parts of the Act and gain insights into the application of the Act and the Regulations at University of Guelph workplaces.

Dr. Hans Bakker has taught sociology at the University of Guelph for thirty-five years. His yoga teacher training was at Sivananda and Kripalu and he taught asanas and pranayama as well as meditation. He also participated in Tibetan Buddhist chanting.
Creating a respectful workplace is everyone’s responsibility. This workshop will raise awareness around what respectful behaviour looks like, promote the adoption of a professional attitude, assist with the development of effective communication skills, and suggest common standards for respectful behaviour.
