If you didn’t know, it can often take more than one donor to save a life and there is a large shortage of blood donations across Canada!

Join the University of Guelph's Partners for Life (PFL) team as we work towards saving lives together and make an appointment to donate blood or plasma now!

What is U of G's Partners for Life team?

The Partners for Life (PFL) program brings people together with the common goal of supporting the most vulnerable people in our communities. Together, people unite to help raise awareness, donate blood, or support stem cell or organ donation registries.

It's easy! When you make your Canadian Blood Services donor account, or if you already have one, you just need to link your account to U of G's team. We have set a team goal of 515 donations by the end of 2022 and every donation helps!

How do you join U of G's PFL team?

To join the team:

  1. Sign in or create an account at blood.ca/en/join-team/UNIV001509 or use the GiveBlood app.
  2. Select ‘Partners’ from the menu, then ‘Join an existing team’
  3. Search for: University of Guelph
  4. For booking or for more info email wellnessatwork@uoguelph.ca
  5. Make sure to book your appointment!

Who can join U of G's Partners for Life Team?

Anyone part of the U of G community can link their Canadian Blood Services donor account to U of G's PFL team.

This includes if you are a U of G:

  • Staff;
  • Faculty;
  • Student ;
  • Alumnus;
  • Retiree; or even
  • Friend, partner/spouse, or family member of any of the above.

Book an Appointment in November:

You can book an appointment anytime that works for you and you will be part of the team as we work towards achieving our 2022 goal of 515 donations! It doesn't matter if you are in Guelph or live and work in another city. You can make a donation at your local Canadian Blood Services Clinic.

Consider booking on an Adoption Day in November!

Adoption Days are when we try to fill all of the appointment slots on a specific day.

If your local Canadian Blood Services Clinic is in Guelph at 130 Silvercreek Pkwy, North, help us fill all the appointment slots on:

Colleagues, entire teams, and groups are encouraged to go together to donate blood on Nov 23 or Nov 24! This can be an opportunity to connect with one another and provide support to each other if some of us have never donated blood before. Each donation makes a difference in supporting the lives of those in our community.

What does Donating Blood Have to do with Well-being?

There are many components to well-being, with community well-being being one of them. U of G exists in the community of Guelph, as well as all other communities that our Ridgetown campus, Guelph-Humber campus, and research stations are located. Community well-being speaks to ways organizations can be involved in the community and how this can improve the health and well-being of our community members. As we work towards reaching our goal of 515 blood donations, we are also working towards supporting the health and well-being of our community members.
