Eating for Exercise - June 10

The essence of the book “Nutrition for the Long Run” is summarized in this exercise nutrition workshop. Participants of all activity levels will benefit from the understanding of how food works to fuel the body and practical ideas to optimize our energy for exercise.

Pulling Weeds for Remembrance: Midday Meetup at the Arboretum Memorial Forest - June 20
Connect with nature and community during this reflective, hands-on session in the Arboretum. A moment to honour and remember while engaging in meaningful activity.

Mental Health First Aid - June 26

Developed by the Mental Health Commission Canada, this 1-day certification course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders.

Sweetgrass Teachings with Grandmother Kim Wheatley at the Guelph Turfgrass Institute - June 27

Join us to honour sweetgrass and its teachings. The gathering will begin with a warm welcome, introductions, and cedar tea to share in community. We are honoured to learn from Grandmother Kim Wheatley, who will guide us in understanding the cultural and spiritual significance of sweetgrass in Anishinaabe traditions. The event will include smudging, a talking circle, and song. Weather permitting, we will conclude with a short walk to the naturalized field, where sweetgrass is being transplanted.

U of G on Tour: Honey Bee Research Centre - July 8

Get an insider’s tour of the facilities at the HBRC. Participants will enjoy a short and interactive presentation on honey bee biology, pollination and pollinator plants. Before going to the apiary, instructions are given on how to behave around stinging insects. A demonstration on how beekeepers are able to safely work with bees is carried out and participants are given the option of tasting honey directly from the honey comb!

U of G on Tour: Guelph Centre for Urban Organic Farming - July 9

Learn about the GCUOF with a guided tour of this campus farm dedicated to education and community engagement, including supplying the University Centre Chef's Hall with produce!

Building Working Relationships - July 18

Research shows that individuals can improve how well they adapt to challenges and adversity. This session will help break negative thought patterns and offer healthier ways of thinking and behaving. Participants will be introduced to a variety of effective, practical tools to improve physical health, respect mental/emotional health, and cultivate a strong social support network.

Mindfulness at Work - July 22

Mindfulness at Work is focused on cultivating mindfulness to enhance the experience at work and in all facets of life. We will examine the facets of mindfulness, the role mindfulness plays in reducing stress, and strategies to cultivate it in your life.

Managing Headaches – A Nutrition and Lifestyle Approach - July 23

Join Kristina Brooks, Naturopathic Doctor from the Health and Performance Centre for an engaging and practical workshop on how lifestyle and nutrition can help prevent and manage headaches. We'll explore common triggers and risk factors, and examine current research on the connection between daily habits, nutrients, and headache prevention.

Fungi Nature Journaling Hike at the Arboretum - August 19 

Nature journaling is a mindful practice that promotes well-being by encouraging presence, curiosity, and reflection. Perfect for beginners, this session will cover the basics so you can confidently start your own nature journal.
