Our Associate Professor Karen Wendling has published (February 2015) her edited anthology Ethics in Canada: Ethical, Social, and Political Perspectives (Oxford University Press).

Kyle Bromhall, now in our PhD program, has won the 2014 College of Arts Sessional and CLA [Contractually Limited Appointment] Teaching Award, for his performance as Instructor in PHIL 2100, Critical Thinking (Winter 2012 and Winter 2014).  Congratulations Kyle, on your excellent teaching!

Karen Houle is the inaugural Eastern Comma Writer-in-Residence Fall 2014.  From the announcement by the Musagetes Foundation:

One of our earliest alumni, Dr David Brewster, went into medical school after completing his Philosophy BA. He has spent his medical career helping impoverished children in many countries and is currently training pediatricians in East Timor.  He's profiled in this summer's Arts Alumni newsletter (page 4).

Kyle Bromhall, now in our PhD program, has won the William James Prize for his paper "Is there more to rationality than its sentiment?" which he will give at this December's annual meeting of the American Philosophical Association.  Congratulations Kyle!

We are sorry to announce that Jean Harvey, Professor of Philosophy, died April 20, 2014 after an illness that was unexpectedly detected late last October. She was 67 years old and is survived by her beloved companion animals and her brother, who lives in England. She passed away with little pain.

Our Associate Professor Omid Payrow Shabani and Professor Monique Deveaux have published (March 2014) their edited anthology Introduction to Social and Political Philosophy: Texts and Cases (Oxford University Press).

Our Associate Professor Karyn Freedman has published (March 2014) One Hour in Paris:  a True Story of Rape and Recovery (University of Chicago Press, US publisher; Freehand Books, Canada publisher).

Our recent PhD graduate, Daniel Harris, has just (February 2014) been awarded a two-year SSHRC postdoc, which he will take up at Hunter College of the City University of New York.  Congratulations Daniel!
