The Centre for Business and Student Enterprise (CBaSE) has lined up an exciting group of clients for the Fall 2016 offering of MGMT*4050, during which senior undergraduate students from across the University of Guelph will gain valuable skills by transforming into business consultants. The clients represent a range of industries including real estate, the arts and community services. Students will focus on a specific project requested by the client, such as a marketing plan, strategic plan or annual report.

Senior business students looking to apply their skills to an actionable project have a new course option this September. ICON, an innovative learning opportunity developed by professors Shoshanah Jacobs and Dan Gillis, will unite senior undergraduate students from multiple disciplines to brainstorm and develop food security solutions, in partnership with the Feeding 9 Billion project. It will be an experiential learning opportunity that focuses on some of the most pressing issues affecting the global community.

The College of Business and Economics has launched a new promotional video to showcase business education at the University of Guelph. The video illustrates the unique experiences and skill-building opportunities students will gain through the commerce program.

The College of Business and Economics is pleased to announce that professor Chris McKenna has been appointed associate dean, research & graduate studies for a five-year term, beginning July 1. He has been acting as interim associate dean, research & graduate studies since January 1, 2016.

After placing first in the global PRME-LEAD Challenge, a competition where students of PRME Champions schools submit short videos outlining how organizations can integrate sustainability within their operations, six Bachelor of Commerce students from the University of Guelph attended the 2016 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in New York City from June 22 to 23.

Research by Real Estate and Housing professor Avis Devine and Qingqing Chang, a financial economist with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, was recently recognized at the European Real Estate Society annual conference in Regensburg, Germany.
