From Competitor to Coach: Sessional Instructor Nicole McCallum Relishes Role as Coach for Jeux du Commerce Central

For Marketing and Consumer Studies sessional instructor Nicole McCallum, the upcoming Jeux du Commerce Central (JDC Central or JDCC) competition will unite multiple parts of her life as an educator, entrepreneur and prior JDCC competitor. From January 24 to 26, the University of Guelph will welcome top business students from across Central and Atlantic Canada who will compete against each other in academic, debate, sport and social competitions, representing the different segments of university life.

Jan. 3: Introduction to Business class ends 2013 with more than $8,000 raised for charity

Professor Trent Tucker's "Introduction to Business" class had thousands of reasons to celebrate their accomplishments at the end of the Fall 2013 semester. Nine teams of first-year students grew $1 loans into more than $8,000 for the Micro-Tyco initiative, which encourages participants to make as much money as possible in one month by selling goods and services. All proceeds go towards micro-loans to support female entrepreneurs in developing countries. Recently, Professor Tucker's class was recognized as the winner in Micro-Tyco's international category.

Dec. 17: University of Guelph announces new scholarships for students in food related studies

The new Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) Legacy Fund will support 98 undergraduate and graduate scholarships and work projects through a new $3-million gift to the University of Guelph. Students in the College of Management and Economics entering food-related programs are among those that will be eligible to receive 17 scholarships worth $14,000 over four years. Dec. 16: "Introduction to Business" students turn $1 into micro-loans for charitable initiative

This past November was a profitable one for Professor Trent Tucker's "Introduction to Business" class. After being split into nine teams, students were given one dollar and one month to make money that will be distributed as micro-loans in developing countries through the Micro-Tyco initiative.
