Studio V 2018 Announces Call for Submissions

Posted on Monday, December 4th, 2017

Studio V is a journal of Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph. “V” is, incidentally, not for vendetta, but is a tribute to the journal’s original name (Studio Vantage), our commitment to openness in interpretation, and a nod to five (V!) LA studios in our building.

The journal was established in 2017 and is published once a year in electronic and paper format. Last year’s inaugural issue was themed ‘Paradox’, inspired by the exploration of “the contradictions of ambiguity and truth” (Art Magazine, 2010), and included contributions by BLA, MLA and PhD students, as well as LA faculty. The journal, available online, featured projects on topics and sites as varied as Google campus in California and First Nations community in Ontario, Guelph cul-de-sacs and Toronto waterfront, school grounds and pissoirs, UofG campus tours and artistic visualization of complex data.

SV aims to support, stimulate and showcase excellence in LA student and faculty work. It also gives space to practitioners and UofG community outside LA to reflect on the latest developments in the fields of landscape architecture, design, ecology, geography and beyond. The journal welcomes submissions addressing any aspect of Landscape Architecture’s diverse practice and academic fields, and seeks contributions reflecting Canadian and global perspectives.

While this academic year’s hard-copy issue will come out in the Spring of 2018, submissions are received and reviewed throughout the year and featured on studioVjournal.tumblr.com.   The call for submissions for Studio V 2018 is now open.

All submissions are subject to the editorial review and, in certain cases, may be further reviewed by expert referee(s). For information about how to submit to the journal, to meet the Editorial Board, and to see some of the recent articles, please go to studioVjournal.tumblr.com.
