Two Emerging SEDRD Researchers Profiled in National Rural Newsletter

Rana Telfah and Ashleigh Weeden, doctoral students in the Rural Studies program in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, were recently profiled as emerging rural researchers by the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (www.crrf.ca). Each year, the Foundation devotes their winter newsletter to showcasing new and emerging rural researchers from across Canada and internationally. The CRRF newsletter is an opportunity for emerging researchers to share their research with a large national and international audience of researchers, community leaders, policy makers, policy makers, and rural development organizations. The Foundation’s newsletter is distributed to over 2,500 researchers, community leaders, and policy makers from across Canada and internationally. 

Rana showcased her research on applying a gender analysis to Syrian refugees’ settlement and integration in rural Ontario. Ashleigh shared her plans to research models of rural innovation ecosystems and their implications for public policy and community development practice. Both researchers were also recognized for their promise as emerging scholars at the 2017 Ontario Agricultural Awards Celebration.
