BLA and MLA graduates receive 2020 ASLA Student Honor and Merit Awards

The American Society of Landscape Architects Student Honor and Merit Awards jury was recently held via videoconference on May 29, 2020.  The jury this year consisted of ASLA members:  Virginia Burt, Neno Kovacevic and Linda Irvine.  A select group of University of Guelph BLA and MLA graduating students were chosen to participate in the awards jury.

As laid out by the ASLA guidelines: 
1.           Nominees must be truly outstanding as measured by the program’s long-term standards of excellence.
2.           Nominees must have demonstrated the highest level of academic scholarship and of accomplishments in skills related to the art and technology of landscape architecture.
3.           Nominees must have demonstrated personal qualities and skills which include responsiveness and willingness to work with others; self-motivation and responsibility; and design abilities through exploration, discovery, synthesis and representation of landscape architecture design.

For the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program, Sienna Turnbull and El Martinez were recognized with the ASLA 2020 Student Merit Award, and Elizabeth Bray was recognized by the jury for the ASLA 2020 Student Honor Award.

For the Master of Landscape Architecture, Sita Ganesan was recognized with the ASLA 2020 Student Merit Award, and Amirhossein Sadeghiesfahani was recognized by the ASLA 2020 Student Honor Award.

Our sincere congratulations to the above students for these considerable accolades, and our thanks to the ASLA jury members and to all the students that participated in this year’s adjudication.
