In March 2026, Rural Planning and Development (RPD) graduate students Emma Pothion and Tristan Cook participated in the CARE International Annual Conference, hosted by the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po in Paris, France, alongside faculty member Dr. Nicolas Brunet.

The conference brought together students, faculty, and partners to explore climate adaptation, urban resilience, and climate leadership. During the poster session, Emma presented research on Understanding Rural Ontario Climate Adaptation through Student Perspectives, while Tristan contributed to the student‑led CARE Tribunal for the Yet to Come, a climate justice exercise focused on accountability to future generations.

Participants also took part in several site visits across Greater Paris, examining urban greening initiatives, biodiversity projects, and climate preparedness in practice. Overall, the experience strengthened connections between academic research, policy, and applied climate action in an international context.
