Senior Studio Student Visits Professional Firms and Open Houses

Students in the senior Landscape Architecture Capstone Studio had the opportunity to visit a range of leading design and planning firms in Guelph and Toronto. These visits included Dillon Consulting in Guelph, as well as Esri Canada, Studio TLA, and Urban Strategies Inc. in Toronto.

Through these open house experiences, students gained valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of professional practice, including project workflows, interdisciplinary collaboration, and office culture. They were introduced to a range of built and ongoing projects, allowing them to better understand how conceptual ideas are translated into real-world design solutions.

The visits also provided important networking opportunities, enabling students to engage with staff, associates, and principals. These conversations offered perspectives on career pathways, professional expectations, and emerging trends within landscape architecture and urban design. Overall, the experience helped connect academic study and professional practice, and enabling students’ understanding of the discipline and preparing them for their transition into the field.
