In the spirit of World Town Planning Day, the University of Guelph will be holding an event where MES students will embark on a day-long field trip to join us in fun planning-related challenging activities and then to explore the City of Guelph! The trip is in collaboration with the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, Rural Planning and Development Program and MES York Planning Alumni Association (MYPAC).
WHEN: November 8th, 2013 from 11:30am – 4pm (plus optional dinner)
WHERE: Starts in the LA Pit and ends in downtown Guelph
COST: FREE! Pizza lunch will be provided
World Town Planning Day: "Water and Planning: The Fluid Challenge"
Planning professionals around the world have all had to deal with at least one major water- related challenge in their career – flood, drought, climate change, supply shortages, or demand management – how our profession responds has a significant impact on the future of our communities.
This Online Conference from November 6-7, 2013 will bring together ideas from around the world about how we plan for communities in response to water-related issues. We are keen to attract speakers that provide a perspective from outside the traditional realm of ‘planning and design’ as well as draw on multi-disciplinary material. We hope to offer insights to help improve the built environment - our cities, towns, rural communities – and the natural environment.
