SEDRD Grad Students Set to Participate in National Evaluation Case Competition

Posted on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016

The first round of the National Student Evaluation Case Competition, takes place this Saturday, February 6th, 2016 in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development.  As some of you may know, Rural Planning and Development students from this department have a bit of a reputation for winning this competition (2009, 2002, 1999, & 1998). This annual Canadian competition has established a reputation as a dynamic, hands-on opportunity for post-secondary students to learn about evaluation.  The Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) and the Canadian Evaluation Society Educational Fund (CESEF) co-sponsor the competition.

Students are presented with a question directly from Ottawa and given 5 hours (in a closed room) to prepare their responses.  They will be competing against several other teams from across Ontario.  This year we have 3 teams that will be participating in Round One of the competition.

The University of Guelph teams are listed below by team name:

Hivemind Solutions
Amanda Herbert, Brianne Labutte, Meaghan Luis, Luke Maloney, and Josephine Bamanya

Optimal Solutions Inc.
Aimee Alderman, Jonathan Pauk, James Newlands, Matthe Rapke, and Chabeeitha Parameswaran

The Magnifiers
Pallak Arora, Jennifer Burns, Rebecca Malloy, Smriti Bhattarai, and Stephanie Patzer

Let’s wish them luck!
