Recess League

Do you miss the good old days on the playground? We have the solution for you, Recess League runs weekly with a random sport picked each time inspired by school yard games. Recess League is a great way to have a mental wellness break in the middle of the work or school day! Examples of sports that are played in Recess League are 3-on-3 Basketball, Kickball, Nerf, Ultimate Frisbee, Scooter Dodge-ball, and so many more! There is no previous experience required. 

We are All Treaty People with Elder Jan Sherman

Join Elder Jan Sherman as she discusses Treaty Relationships. This Circle will focus on the significance of Treaties as the foundation of the building of Canada.  Join us at the Aboriginal Resource Centre to educate yourself about the meaning of Treaties, ask questions and participate in discussion around land and relationships to the land. Everyone welcome!

Physical Accessibility Town Hall

STUDENTS, FACULTY & STAFF This event is an opportunity to share your concerns about physical accessibility on campus and speak to key decision-makers. If you have experienced barriers to accessing certain buildings or routes on campus, including snow/ice, then this is a great opportunity to be heard and help brainstorm solutions.

Wednesday Walks at the Arboretum

Nature is known to be unpredictable and unexpected, so what awaits us today?  Rachel, the Arboretum's Naturalist Intern, leads 1 hour long walks every Wednesday year-round.  Walks start at The Arboretum kiosk at 12:15 p.m.   The hike may be cancelled if there is inclement weather.   Please check the Arboretum's Facebook and Instagram page for a notice if the weekly walk is cancelled due to weather.  For further information contact Sally at scheun06@uoguelph.ca or ext. 52363. 

KAIROS Blanket Exercise

In 1996, the Aboriginal Rights Coalition worked with Indigenous elders and teachers to develop an interactive way of learning the history most Canadians are never taught. The Blanket Exercise was the result; it has since been offered thousands of times and the fourth edition was released in 2016.

Take Our Kids to Work Program

Every year the Upper Grand District School Board, the Wellington Catholic District School Board along with other Ontario school boards co-ordinate a Take Our Kids to Work program whereby Grade 9 students accompany their parent to work and observe them in their daily role as an employee. The University supports this initiative and wishes to ensure that the experience for these students, who may shadow parents at University workplaces on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 is both a safe and a productive one.

Perfectionism in the Workplace Workshop

Join this discussion-based workshop with a focus on identifying effective strategies for reducing perfectionism.  The learning objectives for this session include: Recognize if you are a perfectionist Identify ways in which perfectionists behave Identify strategies to modify or decrease your own perfectionist behaviours Consider the impact of perfectionism in the workplace Facilitator: Joannah O'Hatnick is a Learning Specialist at the McLaughlin Library.
