HOMER in the BULLRING

Friday, March 20th, 2020

Doors open 7:30pm, 8PM start

Homer in the Bullring” marks World Storytelling Day, a celebration of oral storytelling, with readings, performances and interpretations of the work of the 8th century BC poet Homer. By tradition, Homer was a wandering poet who made his living in the 8th century telling what were then already centuries-old stories about the Trojan War. It wasn’t until the 8th century that the Greek world had an alphabet to preserve their legends, so they relied on poets to maintain their cultural connection to the past. We will celebrate that great tradition by bringing our own interpretations of Homer's epic poems to the stage at the Bullring. Members of our University community will bring Homer and his text alive with creative interpretations and join the great tradition of oral storytelling that is celebrated on March 20.
