Lisa Maldonado graduated from the University of Guelph as a mature student in the middle of her career path. As a mother of four, Lisa completed her degree in Spanish, teaching as a Spanish T.A. and held an impressive six research assistantships during her undergrad. Prior to her time at Guelph, Lisa had been working as a translator and interpreter in Guatemala for almost ten years, where she also ran a coffee export business. In less than a year after graduation, Lisa launched her translation business, Lisa Maldonado Translation, for over six years. After several translation certifications and examinations, Lisa began working for the United Nations Headquarters in New York City from 2016-2018 as a translator and précis-writer. Currently, Lisa continues to work for the UN as an editor in the Office at Nairobi, Kenya, as of January 2019.
