Congratulations to School of Computer Science student Jade Legare who has been selected to lead the Google Developer Student Club at the University of Guelph. Once a year, Google selects university students from around the globe who are passionate about growing developer communities to be a Developer Student Club Lead and supports them with starting their own student club on campus.

MSc Student Wins Best Paper Award at the 31st Canadian Conference on Artificial Intelligence
Dylan Loker, a Master of Computer Science Student, attended the 31st Canadian Conference on Artificial Intelligence at York University in May 2018 with his supervisor, Dr. Yang Xiang to present a paper from their research group. In this category, Dylan won the Best Paper Award. Dylan used funding from a School of Computer Science (SoCS) Travel Grant to attend this conference.

Computing Student Receives Birds Studies Canada and the Society of Canadian Ornithologists Travel Grant
One of our Bachelor of Computing Students, Brandon Edwards, received a travel grant from Birds Studies Canada and the Society of Canadian Ornithologists. Brandon will use the funding to attend the 42nd Annual Waterbirds Society Meeting and the International Ornithological Congress (IOC) which will be running concurrently in Vancouver this summer. The IOC is a major conference that happens every four years and brings ornithologists around the world together to present their research.

Dr. Gary Grewal, Associate Professor from the School of Computer Science, has been awarded the University of Guelph Faculty Association's Distinguished Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching.
