History of WSET

The University of Guelph is the only institute west of Toronto offering the prestigious WSET certifications, offering a great opportunity for everyone in the Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and surrounding area to attend.

Building on over 50 years of educational excellence, The School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management continues in the tradition of industry engagement and advancing the careers of Canada’s leading managers.

The School teaches our undergraduate students a required course, HTM*3030 - Introduction to Beverage Management and a restricted elective course, HTM*4050 - Wine & Oenology. The WSET Certifications are a perfect fit to our existing courses.

History of WSET

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust was founded in 1969 in London, United Kingdom. WSET is the world leader in wine education and is offered in 62 countries around the world. It is the most highly respected and transferrable wine certification in the hospitality industry.

WSET qualifications are part of the UK qualifications framework, and the education courses leading to WSET qualifications are an invaluable source of information for students to enhance their knowledge of wines and spirits.
