U of G business students among finalists for global sustainable development competition
University of Guelph students are among the AIM2Flourish 2019 Flourish Prize finalists, an international academic competition supported by the United Nations that celebrates real sustainable business innovations.
The competition invited students to submit stories about positive business innovations that align with the UN Global Goals and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. Their submission was chosen as a finalist from over 800 submissions, including stories from 30 universities across 16 countries.

U of G Datathon teaches students how to effectively communicate data
University of Guelph business students took part in the 2nd annual Datathon earlier this month to develop and enhance their business and data analytics skills.
The event, which is hosted with the support from KPMG and CPA Ontario, aims to provide students the opportunity to develop some of the important skills needed for data analytics, a recognized skillset needed in the finance and accounting industry.

College of Business and Economics Dean elected to join the GRLI Foundation board
Julia Christensen Hughes, Dean of the College of Business and Economics, will be joining the GRLI Foundation Board, appointed to a minimum two-year period.
The Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) exists to catalyze development of Global Responsibility in leadership and practice worldwide, and lead initiatives at the interface between education, business and society to help make globally responsible progress a reality.
Her appointment is in the partner representative category.

Aspiring student entrepreneurs learn from panel of successful local female entrepreneurs
University of Guelph students headed downtown Guelph earlier this month for OWN IT, an evening of inspiration and a panel discussion with local female entrepreneurs on the fears, successes and future visions of starting a small business.
The event was co-hosted by the on-campus group Guelph Women in Leadership (GWIL) the Modern Bride, a bridal boutique located in downtown Guelph. The event aimed to inspire aspiring female entrepreneurs to take the next step toward their small business or ideas.


U of G business students compete for cash prizes at annual accounting case competition
The Accounting Society of Guelph (ASG) hosted their annual Crack the Case competition earlier this month, welcoming over 45 U of G business students to compete for cash prizes.
The annual competition features both a junior and senior accounting case competition, available for all U of G business students, that aims to create a competitive environment that requires teams to compete and perform under pressure. Teams are required to apply the accounting theories learned in class to real life situations.

U of G students host several sport business industry leaders at second annual networking night
Last month, University of Guelph students had the chance to learn more about the sports business industry and network with several professionals in the industry at the second annual networking event, Networking Night: a career in sports business.
The event was hosted by the Guelph Sports Management Association and offered the chance for all students with an interest in the sports industry to attend and network with industry professionals.
