Prof. Ryan Gibson recently explored trends in Canadian immigration and their impacts on economic development, policy, and rural communities in a recent guest lecture at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México.

Prof. Gibson shared an overview of immigration pathways to Canada, both permanent and temporary, examined immigration trends and the impact of COVID-19, and identified rural immigration strategies. Research findings emerging from two Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance research initiatives: (i) Labour Shortages and Newcomer Attraction and (ii) International Agricultural Workers and Rural Housing.

The lecture was part of the Financial and International Economy Conference hosted in Toluca, Mexico.
