CASLA/ACÉAP: A New Student Association for Landscape Architecture

In April 2021, 3rd year Bachelor of Landscape Architecture students were invited to participate in developing a new student association for students of landscape architecture in Canada. This being the Canadian Association of Students of Landscape Architecture/Association Canadienne des Étudiants en Architecture de Paysage (CASLA/ACÉAP).

Rural Studies PhD student Charlotte Potter receives O’Born Scholarship

We are pleased to announce that Charlotte Potter, a Rural Studies PhD student, is the first recipient of the Janice and Earle O’Born Family Foundation Graduate Scholarship. This scholarship is intended to help increase research capacity on rural development and build expertise in the field creating a “next generation” of rural leaders.

U of G Landscape Architecture Students Exhibited their Work at the European Cultural Centre at Palazzo Mora in Venice

Landscape Architecture students displayed their cartographic projects at the European Cultural Centre, part of the Architectural Biennale from May 22 to November 21, 2021 in Venice Italy. Dr. Nadia Amoroso supervised this creative scholarship project. She recently visited this exhibition located at the historical Venetian palace, Palazzo Mora, where she discussed the meaning behind the project, entitled ‘Cartographic Expressions’.

Prof. Sean Kelly has been reappointed Director of SEDRD

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development is pleased to announce that Prof. Sean Kelly has been reappointed as Director of the school for a five-year term beginning January 1, 2022.

RPD student wins prestigious Ted Symons Scholarship

Angela Asuncion, second year Rural Planning and Development graduate student in SEDRD wins the prestigious Ted Symons Scholarship awarded by College of Social and Applied Sciences to support students who are doing research to help protect and preserve the environment. Angela's research focuses on exploring the behaviours of Canadian mining operations in the Philippines, shedding light on the abuse of this global industry operating at the local scale.

MLA Student Tiffany Adair wins Indigenous Graduate Scholarship - Merit

Congratulations to second year Master of Landscape Architecture student Tiffany Adair, winner of the University of Guelph's 2021-2022 Indigenous Graduate Scholarship – Merit. Tiffany joined the MLA program in Fall 2020. She has a Bachelor of Fine Art (Art & Design) from the University of Alberta, specializing in sculpture and printmaking, and has had a number of exhibits of her work.
