Ashleigh Weeden, PhD Candidate in Rural Studies, has published new commentary with the Centre for International Governance Innovation with co-author Dr. Wayne Kelly (Brandon University, Manitoba).
Digital drawings, created from twelve students in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development's (SEDRD) Landscape Architecture programs, are currently being exhibited at the European Cultural Centre (ECC) Exhibition, in conjunction with the Architectural Biennale in Venice, Italy. This is a prestigious international design, architecture and landscape architecture exhibition and is UoG's Landscape Architecture programs' first-time showcasing student work at this exhibition.
To help the University of Guelph community – specifically those on the Guelph campus – better understand land acknowledgements, BLA alumnus / Rural Planning and Development grad student Ryan Matheson collaborated with local Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members to create the Land Acknowledgements and Why They Matter video.
We are very pleased to welcome Zannah Matson and Afshin Ashari as new Assistant Professors in Landscape Architecture, joining SEDRD in 2021!
At this year’s Ontario Association of Landscape Architects Award ceremony, 2021 CSLA-OALA Congress (May 27 – 29), SEDRD Professor, Dr. Karen Landman, was bestowed with an Honorary Membership to the OALA. This is an award for individuals whom OALA Council wishes to recognize for outstanding contributions in their own fields to improving the quality of natural and human environments.

Natassya Lu originally came to the University of Guelph to pursue a bachelor's degree in the International Development and to pursue her wrestling career. After her first year, she quickly realized that the program was not for her and transferred into the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program - right next door to the Athletic Centre; these two buildings became her home for the next several years as she completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in landscape architecture.
