Campus Mile: Kick-Off to Healthy Workplace Month 2024

Staff, faculty and students are invited to celebrate the launch of Healthy Workplace Month with the sixth annual U of G Campus Mile! This year, we will be hosting the event in-person on Johsnton Green and Parking Services has generously donated an Annual Red Parking Pass that one lucky participant of the Campus Mile will win!

U of G on Tour: Get to know your campus Athletics & Recreation Facilities!

Looking to start a new fitness or wellness journey? Did you know that all staff/faculty on campus have access to a subsidized rate to use the on-campus facilities? Join us on a tour of what programming/services and equipment are available to our staff/faculty members and why the Athletic facilities might just be the best fit for you! Attendees of this tour will receive a free day pass for recreation in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, including access to the Fitness Centre and / or a fitness class, to use at their convenience!

Understanding Anxiety and Depression

Mental health problems are an increasing concern in workplaces. Participants will gain an understanding of two of the most common mental health concerns, anxiety and depression. This session will provide strategies for regulating one’s emotions and tips for supporting others who may be experiencing difficulties. Taking regular breaks during the work day can help you de-stress and re-charge. Stop by the UC courtyard or the OVC Cafeteria between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. for a free hot beverage. An assortment of delicious snacks will also be available! Bring along your colleagues. This opportunity is available for all U of G employees.

safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training

Designed by Living Works, safeTALK is a 3.5-hour alertness training and certification that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. This training includes understanding of the importance of suicide alertness, learning to identify ways people invite help, and how to connect those who need help with resources when they are at risk.

Steps to Supporting a Colleague in Distress

"Steps to Supporting a Colleague in Distress" is a guide for staff and faculty to equip themselves with the skills to be able to recognize signs of distress, respond, and refer to appropriate resources. This training is intended to accompany the guide to support staff and faculty in gaining confidence and equipping themselves with the skills necessary to support their colleagues who are experiencing distress. 

Mindfulness and Mitigating the Response to Stress

Mindfulness helps to decrease stress, increase resilience, improve personal productivity, develop connections with others, and augment the ability to experience more joy and peace. This webinar will focus on understanding mindfulness and will assist participants in practicing techniques that can be implemented into everyday life at work and at home. Reducing Stress in the Workplace for Leaders

Stress is one of the biggest problems individuals face in the workplace today and leads to reduced productivity and increased absenteeism.
