U of G on Tour: Get to know your campus Athletics & Recreation Facilities!

Looking to start a new fitness or wellness journey? Did you know that all staff/faculty on campus have access to a subsidized rate to use the on-campus facilities? Join us on a tour of what programming/services and equipment are available to our staff/faculty members and why the Athletic facilities might just be the best fit for you! Attendees of this tour will receive a free day pass for recreation in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, including access to the Fitness Centre and / or a fitness class, to use at their convenience!

Self Compassion

Practicing self-compassion is sometimes viewed as being self-indulgent, self-absorbed or letting ourselves off easy. In fact, self-compassion enables us to evaluate our experiences more rationally and also kicks in to help us develop more effective solutions for making things better. Research shows that practicing self-compassion is a powerful tool for motivation and is strongly related to psychological well-being, including increased life satisfaction and resilience and decreased anxiety and depression.

Free Drop-In Recreational Skating - November 15, 2024

Grab your skates and head down to the Gryphon Centre Arena for a recreational skate to take a break in the day. Hosted by Athletics & Recreation for staff and faculty to attend as part of Wellness @ Work. Helmets are recommended and staff and faculty should bring their U of G cards. Attendees will need to sign a waiver before entering the rink. Skate Rentals are available at Gryph's Locker in the arena. $10 per rental. See more info on the Athletics & Recreation website.   

Languishing: Reducing feelings of stagnation

As we continue to navigate many global, national, local or personal crises, many have become numb or indifferent to the challenges we face and manage on a daily basis. Many have entered a state of ‘rinse and repeat’ with a lack of simple motivation or enthusiasm. This state of stagnation with feelings of emptiness is known as languishing.
