Women and the Sounds of War: Endings and New Beginnings
As a part of the “Creative Women at the End of the First World War” conference, the School of Fine Art and Music, along with the School of Languages and Literatures, will be hosting a gala concert, “Women and the Sounds of War: Endings and New Beginnings”.
The concert will highlight the music of Lili Boulanger, the 100th anniversary of whose death the conference is celebrating, as well as other women composers active at the beginning of the twentieth century. The second half of the concert will honour the legacy of these iconoclastic women, featuring the music of contemporary women artists, including the winning piece from the 2018 Creative Women Composition Competition, The Flag by Monica Pearce.

Les femmes et les sons de la guerre : Fins et nouveaux départs
Un évènement associé avec le colloque « Les Femmes créatrices à la fin de la Grande Guerre : Fins et nouveaux départs », organisé par l’École des beaux-arts et de musique, en collaboration avec l’École des langues et littératures, est un concert de gala, « Les Femmes et les sons de la guerre : Fins et nouveaux départs ».
Le concert mettra en lumière la musique de Lili Boulanger, dont le colloque commémore le 100e anniversaire de la mort, ainsi que d'autres compositrices qui étaient actives au début du vingtième siècle. De plus, le concert honorera ces femmes iconoclastes, en présentant la musique des compositrices contemporaines, y compris l’œuvre qui a remporté le concours de composition des femmes créatrices : The Flag, par Monica Pearce.
