HFTM Students Compete at the 2015 Hospitality & Tourism Case Competition

The University of Montreal (UQAM), Ryerson, and the University of Guelph attended the seventh annual Hospitality and Tourism Case Competition in Montreal from March 12th – 14th.   The University of Guelph entered with four groups of three students in two categories: hotels and tourism. HFTM student competitors included:  Ryan Robertson; Lauren Chan; Angie Elsasser; Rebecca McIlroy; Colin Jackson; Nicole Tome; Dean Hooper; Nicole Chan; Nicholas Sferrazza; Alyson Gregoire; Shawn Goh; Amber Douel. The groups had been training with Professors Michael von Massow and Justin Taillon. 

Congratulations to Rebecca McIlroy, Colin Jackson & Nicole Tome who took home 2nd place in the tourism category!!

In addition to the case competition, UQAM hosted an academic conference on local tourism.  The morning focused on neighborhood tourism and the afternoon on food in neighborhood and local tourism.  As part of the conference, Mike von Massow presented on local food in restaurant supply chains discussing some of the challenges in delivering an authentic local experience in restaurants.

The University of Guelph joined the Hospitality and Tourism Case Competition last year and is looking forward to hosting it next year on the Guelph campus.
