We’re used to seeing Canada excel in ice hockey, but this August, for the first time, Canada will send a team of women to the world championships in underwater hockey, and one of the players is a U of G grad.

Michelle Yu Hua Chan, B.Comm. ’14, was a first-year student in hotel administration when a friend persuaded her to try underwater hockey.

Spotlight on Co-operative Education: Q&A with HAFA alum Kai Raphael

When guests of the new Delta Hotel Toronto enter the brand new glass-covered high rise in the heart of the city’s downtown, a HAFA grad will be at the centre of their experience. The much-anticipated opening of the hotel has been a career highlight for Kai Raphael, an alumnus whose passion for hospitality started when he was a child and developed through his experience in co-operative education.

In this Q&A, Kai talks about how his co-op experience helped to develop his career interest and accelerate his career to where it is today.

Spotlight on Co-operative Education: Q&A with HAFA alum Nicole Jackson

Only four years after graduating with her HAFA (Co-op) degree, Nicole Jackson is managing events at one of the most exclusive event spaces in Toronto - Malaparte. Owned by Oliver & Bonacini (O&B), Malaparte is located on the sixth floor of the TIFF Bell Lightbox and often hosts luxurious events, including celebrity parties during the Toronto International Film Festival. In addition to rubbing elbows with famous faces, Nicole simply loves her work.

New Faculty Positions as the School Grows!

The School invites applications for two tenure-track (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professors in Lodging Management.

Responsibilities include instruction in the Bachelor of Commerce, Masters and/or PhD (Management) programs, the pursuit of scholarly research, and industry relations.  The successful applicant will be expected to play a leadership role in the delivery and development of lodging curriculum, research, and service.

Applications will be accepted now until the closing date of December 15th, 2014.
