Two HTM Students Win Awards at Gryphons Annual Athletic Banquet

The Guelph Gryphons celebrated the 2012-13 Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony last night, with two of the students awarded from HTM!   Congratulations to our fine athletes, Emily Jago (HAFA 4th year) winning the Women's Rowing MVP Award AND Jade Papke (TMGT 2nd year) winning the Women's Wrestling MVP Award!!

HTM student, Drew Cumpson is currently in a contest to win a new accessible van to accommodate his height!  It has almost been 2 years since his accident while on a humanitarian trip to Peru.  Please take a moment to vote for him. You can vote once per day!

 

Alumni Medal of Achievement Award

The Alumni Association Awards of Excellence took place last night and the Alumni Medal of Achievement was presented to Nicole Chuchmach, a B.Comm. '02 and MBA '07 graduate. Congratulations Nicole!! So proud! Hannah McClenaghan, 3rd year HTM student ended the evening with the closing remarks. Great job!

Costa Rica Presentation on Best Practices in Sustainability

The group of HTM students who visited Costa Rica this semester to research best practices in sustainability certification, have been accepted to present their work at an academic conference on May 1st!  Before heading to this exciting forum, they would like to present to you on April 3rd from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. in MACS 121.  A 50-minute presentation will be followed by questions and constructive feedback in preparation for May 1st.  Please join us!   Contact Prof.

Young Hotelier Summit in Switzerland Underway

HTMers Dan Amzallag, Duncan Chiu, and Allison Clarke are currently in Switzerland representing the University of Guelph at Young Hotelier Summit, a prestigious competition that takes place annually. Each year YHS consists of three students from twenty-two different hospitality programs representing all continents. These sixty-six students are placed into six-man groups and asked to answer an industry question. Yesterday Starwood, this year's sponsor, created the groups and provided this year's project.

Garden2Table/College Royal A Success!!

This past weekend marked great success for the Garden2Table team at College Royal. With four guest chefs and some informative and interactive displays, they were able to attract many families and children. The event ended on a high note, winning the CME award for best CME display! Thank you to everyone who came out to support them.

Three HTM Students Head to Switzerland for Young Hoteliers Summit

Three HTM students won a trip to Switzerland to represent the University of Guelph at the annual YHS (Young Hoteliers Summit). Please join the HTM faculty and staff in wishing Dan Amzallag, Duncan Chiu, and Allison Clarke good luck in Lausanne, Switzerland this year.   We know you'll represent us well and make us proud!  Partial funding for this trip came from donors who support the Student Opportunities Trust and a big thank you to them!!
