Level 1 Award in Wines Cover Photo

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 in Wines is an entry level qualification providing a straightforward introduction to wine. You will learn the main types and styles of wine, as well as the basic skills to describe wines accurately. You will also learn how to make food and wine pairings.

Each course has a set start and finish date, along with guidelines on progression. Students are free to log-in and complete their learning hours at times that suit them. You will have access to our course educator who will provide feedback on assigned exercises and respond to course related inquiries.

Students will learn through a range of independent and/or group activities (tasting area, multiple choice feedback tests), supported by videos and quizzes, designed to achieve the required learning outcomes to prepare for the examination. Q&A forums allow students to interact with others on the same course, which is monitored by our course educator. There will be a live zoom and tasting class.

Level 1 Wines is based around a 4-week, 7 module online learning program with educator support available for the time period. The course modules should be followed in order, but you are free to complete the modules at your own pace during this 4-week window. The course material should take about 6 hours in total to complete, plus revision time.
