Relaxation & Stress Management Skills

This group program meets twice a week for 6 weeks (12 sessions in total) to maximize the opportunity to practice and develop strong skills in releasing body tension, and calming and focusing the mind. This educational program emphasizes skill acquisition and education about stress management and high performance. This is not a self-disclosure or therapy group; the purpose is skills practice.

U of G, Let’s Talk: A Conversation on our Journey to Creating a Thriving Workforce

On Tuesday, January 28, you're invited to "U of G, Let's Talk" a presentation and panel discussion about the University's progress in creating a healthy workplace. Learn what we have accomplished together so far and what we plan to achieve next to enhance the psychological health and safety of all employees. In a panel discussion led by President Franco Vaccarino, University leaders share their successes, challenges and aspirations when it comes to workplace wellness and creating a thriving culture. Free Classical Yoga Class Every Tuesday

Classical Yoga is a particularly effective and efficient system to not only stretch, tone and develop the muscles but stimulate robust health in all systems of the body.  Regular practice can relieve stress and anxiety and promote mental concentration.

Anxiety: Skills & Strategies

This group program meets once a week for 3 weeks to develop and practice skills in decreasing the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety. A variety of long and short self-calming techniques are introduced, along with behaviours that can help prevent escalation of anxiety.  All techniques in this program have originated from research into strategies which decrease anxiety. They have been well studied and the most up-to-date information will be presented.  

Wellness Friday - Healthy Sleep Habits

We all feel so much better after a good night's sleep. Our thoughts are clearer, our reactions faster and our emotions are less fragile. This session introduces participants to the effects of sleep deprivation and reviews some key strategies for what you can do to promote healthy sleeping habits. Facilitator: Homewood Health If you would like to participate remotely, please register and a meeting login will be sent to you prior to the session.  

Labyrinth Drop-In

The labyrinth is available for anyone to drop-by and walk through. No registration required. 

Mental Health First Aid Day 2

The Mental Health First Aid Course is a 2 day course that provides participants the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague Program focus: MHFA teaches participants to recognized the symptoms of mental health problems, provide initial help and how to guide a person towards appropriate professional help.

Recess League

Do you miss the good old days on the playground? We have the solution for you, Recess League runs weekly with a random sport picked each time inspired by school yard games. Recess League is a great way to have a mental wellness break in the middle of the work or school day! Examples of sports that are played in Recess League are 3-on-3 Basketball, Kickball, Nerf, Ultimate Frisbee, Scooter Dodge-ball, and so many more! There is no previous experience required. 

Grow Through Change #1

As the university environment continues to change, employees are required to change with it. Change usually involves some kind of learning which results in behaviour change and the acquisition of new skills. Grow Through Change introduces employees to the concepts, methods and tools for successful continuous learning at work and throughout their lives.
