Morning Mindfulness Moment: Loving Kindness Meditation

Join this very short mindful moment to kick start your week. This mindfulness exercise will be a guided activity focused on strengthening feelings of kindness and connection toward others.  Join to sit back, relax and follow along to the guided script to start your day in a positive way. No video required.  If you are registering on the morning of this session, please email sschoeff@uoguelph.ca to ensure you receive the meeting invitation.

Classical Yoga

Help yourself establish a routine and deepen your practice by joining our virtual Yoga Class every Tuesday and Thursday from 12 - 1 PM. Bring calm, clarity, and peace to the mind.  Everyone – faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees, visiting scholars – Welcome!  No experience required. Try not to eat 2 hours before the practice.  "A yoga collective that cares about cultivating health and wellbeing on the diverse U of G campus and beyond. Our goal is to offer valuable tools for achieving a balanced state of mind and body."

Managing Your Mindset in Uncertain Times

COVID-19 and the resulting implications have thrust us into challenging and uncertain times. Have you found yourself soothing with food, panic buying, calming with alcohol, binge watching the news or Netflix? We can’t control what is happening around us but we can choose our response so we feel some control over what is happening within us. In this session you will explore how uncertainty is impacting your thoughts and behaviours.

How to Adopt a Growth Mindset to Adapt to the Future Now

What leads people to be successful? Is it intellectual ability, hard work, or talent? According to world-renowned author and professor Carol Dweck, it has more to do with an individual’s mindset or beliefs about themselves. Individuals who believe that intelligence and ability is fixed tend to focus on proving themselves and will go to great lengths to avoid appearing unintelligent, which can prevent them from becoming successful and adapting to change. With the discovery of neuroplasticity, we know it is possible to change your mindset. Which mindset have you adopted in recent months?

Wellness Friday: Building Resilience - Understanding Challenges, Learning Strategies, and Accepting Change

Research shows that individuals can improve how well they adapt to challenges and adversity. This session will help break negative thought patterns and offer healthier ways of thinking and behaving. Participants will be introduced to a variety of effective, practical tools to improve physical health, respect mental/emotional health and cultivate a strong social support network.  Facilitator: Homewood Health
