Stephanie Settle is a PhD student in Literary Studies. She completed her master’s degree at Guelph and her bachelor’s degree at the Glendon campus of York University. Her first published paper, "'Power to Disturb': Exploring Iterations of Queerness in Selected Works of Doris Lessing," can be found in volume 35 of Doris Lessing Studies. Stephanie’s dissertation will analyze the works of early twentieth-century Dakota writer and activist Zitkala-Ša (also known as Gertrude Bonnin), with a focus the rhetorical strategies Zitkala-Ša used to succeed as a professional writer in the face of prejudice and discrimination.
